Rev. Dr. Jeri-Lynne Bouterse
Photo by Lenny LepolaCondit Presbyterian Church is honored to have Rev. Jeri-Lynne Bouterse, D. Min., serving as a temporary minister for six months beginning December 1st. Her 24 hour week will include sermon preparation and Sunday worship service, pastoral care and office administration.
Bouterse, which rhymes with routers, was born in Michigan but grew up in Florida where she became an elementary and middle school teacher before graduating from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 2000. Shortly after graduation she was ordained and has served two churches as a solo pastor.
In 2009 she returned to Pittsburgh Theological Seminary to pursue her Doctor of Ministry studies in the Reformed Focus. The Reformed Focus course of study included two trips to Scotland in order to explore the roots of Presbyterian reformed theology. While there she attended the University of Aberdeen. In 2011 she graduated with her Doctor of Ministry.
Noting that she came late to the ministry, Bouterse said she always felt called but when she was younger there were fewer women role models in place to encourage her.
While serving in the Pittsburgh area she obtained certification in Interim Ministry and completed training as a Stephen Ministry Leader. Education is very important to Jeri-Lynne.
This October her husband David was offered a position at National Sign Systems in Hilliard, OH, as their IT Director. During the transition she was introduced to Condit Presbyterian Church by the Scioto Valley Presbytery and began providing pulpit supply to the church through the month of November. It wasn’t long before both Rev. Bouterse and the Condit church family decided it was a good match! Rev. Bouterse began her official duties as the Temporary Part-time Pastor of Condit Presbyterian Church on December 1, 2014.
“My goal is to help this fellowship increase numerically and spiritually so they can go back to a full-time minister,” Bouterse recently told The Sunbury News. “This has traditionally been a country church, but the members of this fellowship are trying to be more in touch with the greater community. . . . The people here are exceptionally warm and kind-hearted. They love their community and they love their church. If anyone in the area doesn’t have a church home, please come and worship with us.”
Jeri-Lynne and David have three married adult children and one grandson. Dylan, Gayle and Jarret reside in Raleigh, NC. Brad and Lisa reside in Wexford, PA. Brian and Jackie live near them in Hilliard. David and Jeri-Lynne love to travel, ride their motorcycle, read, and gather for meals with family and friends!

Ira Albertus Pierson
Born 11-12-1830
Born November 12, 1830 to Ira and Jemima (Condit) Pierson in New Jersey, Ira came to Ohio in 1838 and settled near the post office in Trenton Township.
At age 16 he was apprenticed for 3 years to C. S. Ogden in Logan County. At the age of 19 he was building houses in Delaware County for a year. When he was 20 he went to Licking County to run his brother Simon’s sawmill. There he stayed for 7 years.
He returned to Trenton Township an on December 30, 1852 he married Juliaette Herron who was born in 1831.
In 1855, I.A. bought 50 acres in Trenton and became known as a farmer and wool buyer.
In 1863, Ira was carrying the mail from Condit to Mt. Vernon. He got a job working for the Columbus Cleveland Railroad and worked out of the Condit Station.
Following the death of his wife, Ira married Pyrena Perry.
Ira had five children: Andrew H., Nettie B., James L., Martin M., and Frank O. The latter died November 11, 1878 and is buried in Trenton Cemetery with his mother and grandparents.
I have not found the rest of the family.
